What is famous for the city of Tangier!

What is Tangier famous for?



 Tangier Tangier is a city located in Morocco on the Gulf of the Strait of Gibraltar, 27 km from the southern tip of Spain, Tangier was built on the slopes of a hill of chalky limestone, and the old town has been surrounded by walls since the fifteenth century.  The city is connected by road and rail network with Fez, Meknes, Rabat, and Casablanca,


 * It contains international airports and shipping services with Europe.  It is famous in many industries such as building materials, fishing, spinning, weaving and carpets.  Founding the city of Tangier Tangier was most likely established by the Phoenicians, since it was under the rule of the Romans, with a major port and a well-known commercial center until the founding of the city of Fez in 808. The Arabs arrived in it in the 7th century,


 * The Arabs reached it another way through Sidi Uqba in 682, to restore it in 707 by Musa bin Nusayr.  It was under the rule of the Portuguese in 1471, and the British also occupied it until 1684, Gibraltar was besieged by the Spanish from 1779 to 1783, and in 1844 Tangiers was bombed by the French fleet as part of the French campaigns against Emir Abdelkader al-Jazaery, as well as conquered it.  Spaniards in 1860,


 * It also became a diplomatic center after the division of Morocco into territories belonging to the Spanish and other territories belonging to the French in 1912, Tangier joined Italian rule in 1928, and during World War II it was controlled by Spain, and in 1945 it returned to international control by an agreement signed between Britain  France, the United States, and the Soviet Union until 1956 to be returned to Morocco.


 * The most important landmarks that can be seen in Tangier:



 The Kasbah of Ghilan, which is located on the bank of Wadi al-Halq, which contains the Kasbah Palace and the Kasbah Mosque.


 Ras Al-Manar, which overlooks the Bahrain Complex and the Mount of Honor.  Saint Andrew's Chapel, which contains distinguished decorations and carvings.

 The Cave of Hercules, which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, receives many tourists.  The Moroccan Arts Museum, built in the seventeenth century.

 Cape Spartel overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, which contains a great lighthouse.


 The old city built by the Spaniards in 1880, which contains a square, a mosque and a museum.  The Serfantis enclosed theater, built in 1913. The old American Legation Museum, which contains paintings of Moroccan and American heritage.  Asilah, on the northwestern tip of the Atlantic coast, is famous for its seafood and dishes.
