Sensory and mental perception:

 * Scientists, in the past and present, have been concerned with the mental and intellectual activities that humans practice in different life situations, such as thinking, attention, perception, remembering and many others.  As the ancient philosophers had many attempts to explain these mental activities, and Muslim scholars, philosophers and thinkers during successive eras continued to develop theories explaining them.  It is worth noting that the separation of the psychology from the philosophical sciences in the modern era has led to an expansion in the areas of focus and research in human knowledge and its mechanism, thus showing knowledge science within the psychological sciences, which is defined as the science that is concerned with studying the mechanism of the functioning of mental processes at all levels, and the methods of employing them.  And its organization, and how to benefit from it, in addition to the methods of processing information during the individual's processes of remembering, perception, thinking, problem-solving, and others.

 * Some have defined cognitive psychology as the science that deals with the mental processes that an individual undertakes when receiving various information, methods of processing, encoding, storing and then retrieving them when needed, and among the most prominent of these processes is the perception process separated by cognitive psychology and interested in studying all its types and aspects.  As a mental process, many different definitions of the perception process in general appeared in psychology, and the most important of these definitions are the following:

 * It is a mental process through which the individual gets acquainted with his external surroundings, by receiving external stimuli with his senses, and then interpreting and interpreting them according to subjective directions.  It is one of the psychological processes through which the individual identifies and accesses the meanings of individuals, objects, and various stimuli, and understands their implications, by organizing sensory stimuli, interpreting and formulating them into independent units that carry their own meanings.

As for the comprehensive definition of perception, it is:

 * A mental, psychological process that helps a person know his external world, and access to the meanings and connotations of things, by organizing sensory stimuli, to interpret them and formulate them into meaningful faculties.  The difference between sensory perception and mental perception The differences between mental perception and perceptual perception appear through identifying them, and among the most important information that separates these topics are the following: Sensory Perception The following points clarify the meaning and characteristics of perception:

 * Sensory perception is defined as a set of total responses to sensory stimuli emanating from various external stimuli, which the individual receives through the sensory nerves located in the sensory organs.  The perceptual process takes place as a result of stimulating and stimulating the sensory organs, through external stimuli;  So that it works on translating and interpreting external sensations into perceptions through previous experiences, meaning that the interpretation and perception of sensory impressions is based on experiences and knowledge previously stored in memory.

 * It can be said that the perceptual process is a very complex, emotional, sensory, mental process.  It interferes with feeling, memory processes, visualization, attention, awareness, and language.  Some see sensory perception as the feeling and feeling of things such as physical stimuli, and it may include the perception of material things with their names and most important essential tasks, and it may include different meanings and forms of relationships that govern some physical stimuli.  It is possible to define sensation as the transfer of the primary elements of the feeling process and that is by conveying stimuli from the sense organs through the sensory nerves to the brain, and it appears that adding mental images to create subjective or general meanings for these stimuli makes the sensation a perceptual sensory process.  Mental perception The differences between sensory and mental perception are evident through the expansion of the concept of mental perception, and this appears through the following points:

 Definition of mental perception:

 * Mental perception is the perception of concepts, postulates, facts, and general meanings, such as concepts of life and logic, as it is one of the most prominent features that distinguishes man from other living things, just as mental perception is part of the work of the mind and the brain, which is considered responsible for the formation of abstract general concepts.  And far from tangible things.  Some have called the subconscious sense on the concept of mental perception and it has been explained through the qualities of the soul of abstract meanings, or what are called internal sentiments, and that is through the physical sensations that are among the tools of this soul.  Mental perception is a mental process based on inferring and extracting abstract meanings from imaginary images that result mainly from the process of perception and sensory images.

 Elements of the perception process:

 * The perception process is considered one of the complex mental processes in which many internal and external factors overlap, which have a great impact on the course of the perception process. Scientists have divided the factors affecting the perception process into internal, subjective and external factors, which are as follows: internal factors, the most important of which are: memory  A person is directly aware of the stimuli or things to which he was previously exposed, that is, the stimuli stored in his memory in the circle of his previous experiences, in other words, the process of perception of the known and familiar things and stimuli for the individual is easier than the process of his perception of new stimuli, experiences and stimuli.  Individual attitudes: It mainly appears that the culture, attitudes, preferences and beliefs of the individual have an impact
