Ruling on fasting the first of Rajab

Fasting the first of Rajab:

 Scholars have many opinions regarding the ruling on fasting in the month of Rajab, so a group of scholars went on to recommend fasting during it for two reasons:  The first is because of the virtue of fasting and its reward in general, and the second because of the virtue of fasting the sacred months and is requested from them, as well as what was mentioned about the virtue of fasting in Rajab.  O Messenger of God! Did I not see you fasting a month of the months you did not fast from Shaban ?! He said: That is a month that people neglect about between Rajab and Ramadan, and it is a month in which deeds are raised to the Lord of the world.

 So they inferred from this hadith on the desirability of fasting Rajab, just as fasting Shaban is desirable, so is its fasting. As for the group that went to the dislike of fasting Rajab, among them are Ibn Omar - may God be pleased with them - and the Hanbalis likewise disliked the fasting of Rajab, and they said that it is not disliked if he breaks the fast one day in it, either  Fasting some days in the month of Rajab is desirable because of what has been mentioned about the virtue of fasting in the sacred months.  As for the dislike of fasting in Rajab, which was narrated on the authority of Umar ibn al-Khattab - may God be pleased with him -  It is devoting the fasting person to this month of the year to fast, because there is no evidence from the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - of the merit of fasting the month of Rajab in particular.

 Fasting the sacred months:

 Fasting the sacred months is desirable according to the majority of Hanafi, Shafi’i, and Maliki jurists. The Shafi’is and the Malikis stated that the month of Muharram, then Rajab, is the best of the sacred months, then Dhu al-Qi’dah and Dhu al-Hijjah.  written? and any fasting better after the month of Ramadan? and he said the best prayer, after the prayer written prayer in the middle of the night, and the best of fasting after the month of Ramadan, the fasting month of Muharram), and went tap to mustahabb fasting Thursday and Friday and Saturday of each month from the sacred months,  As for the Hanbalis, they used the Sunnah fasting of the month of Muharram only among the sacred months.

 Among the evidences for fasting the sacred months mentioned in the Holy Qur’an is the saying of God Almighty: (Indeed, the number of months in God’s book is twelve months in the Book of God, the day of the creation of the heavens and the earth of which is the fourth of the year.)  peace be upon him, said: (The time has turned Khaith day God created the heavens and the earth, the year of twelve months, of which four campuses, three sequences: Zul, a genuine argument, and Muharram, and Rajab Mudar which comes between Jumada and Shaban);

 * The sacred months are those who are the most beloved and the best of the months in the sight of God - glory and majesty - the virtue of volunteer fasting. Voluntary fasting has a great merit and a great reward for God - glory and majesty -.  A voluntary fast completes the deficiency that is required by the obligation of fasting on the Day of Resurrection, as it was mentioned in the Prophet’s Sunnah on the authority of the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace -: (The first of what people will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection is prayer. He said: Our Lord Almighty says to His angels - and He knows best -:  Look at my servant’s prayer, whether it is completed or not? If it is complete, write it to him in full, and if something is minimized from it, he said: Look, does my servant have volunteerism? If he has volunteering, he said: Complete it for my servant, then he will follow him.

 And voluntary fasting is a cover from the fire of Hell, as it was mentioned in the saying of the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace -: (O Kaab bin Ajrah! Prayer is a proof, and fasting is a fortified heaven), and it is a bulwark from desires, according to Abdullah bin Masoud - may God be pleased with him - from the Messenger  - May God’s prayers and peace be upon him - He said: “O tenth of the youth, who among you can marry, and whoever is not able to do it through fasting, it will come to him.”

 * Fasting on a voluntary day for the sake of God - glory and majesty - separates its owner from the fire for seventy years. It was reported from Abu Saeed al-Khudri - may God be pleased with him - that the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - said:  Hell is seventy autumns), and voluntary fasting was urged by the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace.  On the Day of Resurrection, its owner enters Heaven through the Gate of Rayan, where Abu Huraira narrated that the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - said: (Whoever is among the people of fasting is called from Bab Rayyan).

 * The voluntary fasting is an expiation for sins and sins, and it is a bulwark from Satan and his servants, and it removes diseases of the heart such as grudges and resentments, and whoever fasts a legitimate volunteer wins and continues with it in the high rooms of Paradise as in the hadith of the Messenger - may God bless him and grant him peace - he said: (There are rooms in Paradise whose appearance is visible from the inside.  And inside it from the outside, God prepared it for the one who fed the food, spoke now, and continues fasting, and he prays while people are asleep), and whoever has his last deeds voluntarily fasting for God - Almighty and Exalted - enters paradise, God willing, and fasting refines and patiently, in addition to that for the fasting person  It came on the authority of the Prophet that he said: (For the fasting person when breaking his fast, for an invitation that is not returned).
