The date of the Al-Ahly and Tunisian Esperance match:

The Al-Ahly and Tunisian Esperance match will be held at 6 pm today, Saturday (Cairo time), and the confrontation between Al-Ahly and Esperance has become one of the classic confrontations in the African Champions League in recent years, specifically starting from the third millennium, when the two teams used to clash with each other during the playoffs or  in the group stage of the tournament.

Al-Ahly raises the slogan of rehabilitation in front of Esperance

Al-Ahly raises the slogan “Rehabilitation” during the African Champions League in the past and current version, after he toppled the South African Sun Downs from the championship for the second year in a row in response to his being considered after the resounding five-fold fall at the Sun Downs Stadium in South Africa, to turn his confrontation with him into revenge matches, which is what  It resulted in him being knocked out of the tournament.

The same thing was repeated in the last edition of the African Champions League with the Moroccan club Wydad, who deprived the Red Genie of the African Champions League title in 2017, so that Al-Ahly returned and avenged it and defeated it back and forth with 5/1 in the two matches.

Al-Ahly is currently facing its counterpart, Esperance, who deprived Al-Ahly of the African Champions League title in 2018, after Al-Ahly was dropped 3-0 in the return leg of the final after Al-Ahly won the first leg with three goals against a goal.  And up to the final, this is what the two matches of the Tunisian champions will reveal.

20 matches between Al-Ahly and Esperance

Al-Ahly has previously met with Esperance 10 times in the African championships, with 20 matches between the two teams. The superiority in direct confrontations came in favor of Al-Ahly, who won 8 matches and lost to Esperance 4 times, and tied in 8 matches, and Al-Ahly scored 24 goals, in contrast, Esperance scored 19  a goal.

 * Wissam El-Abedy, a former Zamalek football player, believes that the Al-Ahly and Esperance match scheduled between them in the African Champions League is very difficult for both teams.

Al-Abedy added, in televised statements to the Ontime Stadium program, on the Ontime Sports channel: The match is between two big clubs in Africa and it will be a difficult confrontation, the two teams know each other very much, and it will end with parts in the midfield.

And the former Zamalek star continued: “The match is in two halves, it will not be decided in Rades, and qualification will be decided in the return match. Esperance will achieve a positive result in Tunisia, but it is difficult to predict it.”

Wissam Al-Abedy has good memories in Egypt, where he played for Zamalek club for two seasons, and he said about this period in previous statements: “It is a great and great club in the Arab world and Africa, and although I played for a short time in the White Castle, I have many unforgettable memories despite the administrative problems that  The club was suffering from it, and if Zamalek was stable, it would have been in another place.”

 * Sayed Abdel Hafeez, the football director of Al-Ahly Club, was keen to emphasize the necessity of video technology while attending the technical meeting of the Esperance and Al-Ahly match, in the first leg of the semi-finals of the African Champions League, and stressed the referees’ staff to ensure that the “var” works in the match.

 * Al-Ahly’s football director stressed, during his attendance at the technical meeting that took place this afternoon at the Tunisian Esperance Hotel, the need to ensure that the “var” technique works with high quality and accuracy during the match;  In order to preserve the rights of both parties.

 * Al-Ahly’s request came to ensure that the video technology works for fear of any manipulation from the Tunisian side, as happened in previous seasons, during which Esperance officials deliberately disrupted video technology or claimed the presence of absent equipment for operating the recently developed technology in African stadiums, in order to hold matches without a referee.  The video, which Al-Ahly officials realized and demanded the need to ensure that the video technology works in high quality.
