Damage to hair dye during pregnancy

Hair dye side effects

One of the habits of a woman is that she likes to beautify, beautify, and change her shape and hair color from time to time, and she uses hair dyes that consist of chemicals with different concentrations.

 Types of hair dye:

Temporary hair dye which disappears after washing the hair because it does not reach the hair shaft.

The semi-permanent dye disappears after washing the hair about ten times, and this type reaches the hair shaft

-Permanent dye, which is the preferred type among women and the most common among women.

The most important effects of hair dyes on a pregnant woman,

Studies have shown the effect of hair dye on the pregnant mother.

A study said that the effect is weak.  And another study proved that the child is affected by the mother’s hair dye and may develop a disease called “neuroblastoma.”

* Another study proved that the mother's body absorbs a percentage of the chemicals in the dye, and they found that this percentage does not pose a danger to the fetus inside the womb.  They also said that the percentage that is dangerous to the fetus must be greater than the percentage found in hair dyes.

Despite all this, the doctor advises the mother after dyeing her hair while she is pregnant, especially in the first three months of pregnancy, and she can replace the dyes with other types, such as “hair henna” to preserve her health and the health of the fetus.

Use henna as an alternative to chemical hair dyes.

A pregnant woman who wants to change her hair color is advised to replace chemical dyes with henna.  Here are some tips when using henna:

Use pure natural henna.  And stay away from black henna because it does not have natural ingredients and it lasts on your hair for about four weeks.

It is recommended to do a sensitivity test to the product before use.

Make sure that the type of henna is safe for the fetus.

Know the ingredients of henna before you use it and that it is free of chemicals that can cause an allergic reaction to you

Do not use henna that contains para-phenylenediamine.  Because it causes sensitivity and severe irritation.

 Dyeing hair while breastfeeding.

There are no studies on the effect of infant hair dyes so far.  And because the percentage that the mother’s body absorbs from the dye is small, and therefore it does not reach the milk and does not harm the infant.  So far, there are no cases of infants affected by hair dyes.

The effects of hair dyes on women in general.

There are studies that appeared all opposite each other.  There is a study confirmed that dyes can cause cancer.  While another study showed that there is no relationship between hair dyes and cancer.

 * In general, hair dye manufacturers have reduced carcinogenic chemical components.  In general, madam, it is advised not to use hair dyes in an exaggerated way to prevent damage, even if it is minor.

 * Be sure to use natural products.  Follow the directions on the dye package.  It is necessary to do a sensitivity test before placing it on the hair.  This test is done by placing an amount behind the ear and leaving it for a while. If signs of allergy appear, do not use it to avoid skin infections
