What is meant by e-government?


The concept of e-government:



 E-government is also called e-governance, which is the application of information and communication technology to government functions and procedures with the aim of increasing efficiency and transparency, and enhancing citizen participation.  Efficiency in accomplishing government tasks, in addition to improving and accelerating processes and procedures, increasing the quality of public services, developing decision-making processes, and providing opportunities for seamless communication between different government offices.




 E-Government Objectives:




 There are many goals for e-government, the most prominent of which are:




 1- Creating a better business environment, as the use of information and communication technology in government helps simplify interaction and transactions between the government sector and the business sector.




 2- Enhancing good governance and transparency, and expanding the scope of public participation in setting policies and making decisions that contribute to the fight against corruption.




 3- The e-government itself does not put an end to corruption, but it is accompanied by mechanisms that make the conduct of government procedures clearer.




 4- Improving the productivity and efficiency of government agencies, increasing the productivity of government employees, and reducing public expenditures by reducing the number of offices and paper consumption.  Providing benefits for the benefit of citizens and the public administration at a number of levels,




 5- A good income can be obtained by collecting data and transmitting it to the concerned authorities.  Improving the quality of life in communities that need care, as modern communication technologies allow the government to reach and empower marginalized groups, involve them in the political process, and provide them with goods and services.





 E-Government Benefits:




 * The e-government has advantages and benefits, including the following:




 1- Promoting inclusive governance E-government contributes to building trust between governments and citizens, by using Internet-related strategies to engage citizens in the political process, which demonstrates the extent of government transparency.




 2- Increasing the ease and speed of implementation Reducing paperwork and using technology facilitated the process of exchanging information and ideas between government agencies, as well as facilitating access to government decisions and policies, as e-government gives all citizens the right to access information.




 3- Raising the level of operational efficiency. Citizens are interested in the efficiency of the services provided, as the effectiveness of governments is measured by the quality of their dealings with citizens, and achieving this became possible with the emergence of e-government.




 4- Reducing the administrative costs of the government E-government is very effective in terms of reducing costs, for example, it is possible to conduct an opinion poll on an issue at a very low cost, in addition to collecting data and other government tasks without additional expenses.
